Return of the Roller

If Bunbury has produced on positive it has to be the discovery of Beady Eye Liam Gallagher's new group. Liam has been joined by former Oasis bandmates Gem Archer, Andy Bell, and Chris Sharraock so they could be lazily labeled Oasis minus Noel. And let's be honest the majority of us care little about the spine of the band..it's all about one man the great big mouth Mr. William John Paul "Liam" Gallagher.

The owner of such classic quotes as; “I fucking hate Glastonbury, mate. I’m only here for the money.” (NME, July 2004). and

“I suppose I do get sad, but not for too long. I just look in the mirror and go, ‘What a good-looking fuck you are.’” (NME, November 2006).

In fairness dear old Liam has calmed down a lot since the heady days of Oasis, sure he's prone to the odd rant but that's why we love him, the world would be a dull place without his musings on life. The only thing that seems to really rub up Liam these days is his older brother, with his 'hate' of his brother leading to the formation of Beady Eye.

For me, Gallagher is one of the last great true Icons of Rock N' Roll, especially in a modern music world which seems to be growing ever shorter on Icons and standouts as the years go by. Sure he can be a right prat but that's what I love about him he ain't afraid to speak his mind...whether he's right or wrong. One thing for sure he's still got the presence and that voice.

Sure it seems like he's yet to shake off his infatuation with being the John Lennon of our generation, but I think he's all the better for his hero worship as they can never be another John Lennon granted..but it sure is fun watching someone try all his life to be him.

Allmusic sums up Beady Eye's debut and Liam to a tee - ''Because this is an Oasis driven by Liam, the purest rock & roll star of his generation. He’s so sure of his swagger and taste that he truly believes that blatant hero worship is rebellion, and so his music actually retains a wild spirit even as it follows a classicist blueprint to the letter. This untrammeled rock & roll gusto makes the bulk of Different Gear pure fun in a way the carefully considered post-Morning Glory records never were, and it also means that Beady Eye aren’t quite as sure-footed on their ballads: they are a band of instinct, not introspection and listening to them follow Liam’s id throughout Different Gear, Still Speeding is infectious.

Anyway, he's still got it, check this out -

Mad fer' it..Live Forever kid!!
