The not so clash of the titans..

KILKENNY 4-26 - 0-11 CORK

The mouth did truly water, ahead of this clash of hurlings giants in Nowlan Park yesterday. Supporters of both sides were expecting another classic chapter in the storied rivalry of the Rebels & the Cats. New Cork manager Dennis Walsh was awaiting a baptism of fire, he got one and then some. Kilkenny beat seven bells out of Cork from the get-go, and it didn't take long to start registering on the scoreboard.

The black & amber swarmed all over the rebel 15, being 1st to every ball, a ball that usually either ended over or under Donal Og's crossbar. The new trend at Nowlan park seems to be half-time standing ovations, 15 points up at the break, the Nowlan Park faithfull struck up again. Between them, Henry Shefflin, Eoin Larkin and Richie Power scored 25 points. With Cork only getting 6 points from play. Ben O' Connor being their top scorer on the day, with five (all from frees).

As Kilkenny steamrolled yet another victim, the hurling world is starting to think who can stop the 'juggernaut', and all this without 4 of their starters. Brian Cody even gave in to 'praising' his sides excellence, adding, ('ahem') "It was very good obviously". The Cork players might have wished they had stayed on strike, no doubt the pride down Leeside way is in a state of mourning.

It's fairly obvious Kilkenny are streets ahead in this years league campaign. Whether they can carry it on to the Championship is another matter...however it does look like the four-in-a-row is calling big time!
